The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported late Friday evening that Dodong was last located 150 kilometers northwest of Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
Dodong is moving southwest at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h.
As per the weather bureau, Dodong may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday evening or Sunday morning.
There is a possibility that it may intensify into a tropical storm on Saturday and further develop into a severe tropical storm by Monday over the waters south of Hong Kong.
Currently, only La Union and Pangasinan are experiencing rain from Dodong, with the potential for floods and landslides. Strong winds brought by the tropical depression are still being felt in Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur, the only areas under Signal No. 1 as of Friday night.
Despite moving away from land, Dodong continues to enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat.
Parts of Luzon such as Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro are expected to experience heavy rain from the enhanced southwest monsoon on Saturday.
Other areas in Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao may also have occasional rain or scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
